D(Health Sciences)Sylvia is the ex-Chief Nurse of Hospital Authority (HA) taking charge of 21,000 nurses. Sylvia is a leader in many professional associations and government consultative committees locally and internationally. She is now the President of Hong Kong Midwives Association, Vice-president of the Provisional Hong Kong Academy of Nursing and member of the Elderly Commission. She has acted as the Asia Pacific representative of the International Confederation of Midwives, and is now the deputy chairman for international affairs of the Chinese Nursing Association, as well as the Observer Trustee of the Commission for Foreign Nursing Graduates in the United States.Sylvia was awarded the Outstanding Staff and Outstanding Contributor of HA in 2004 and 2012 respectively for her exemplary performance. In 2005, she was awarded the prestigious Florence Nightingale Medal by the International Red Cross for her commitment and contribution to nursing services and mankind.
