Biography
Ms. Maisie Lai joined the Tung Wah College as a Senior Clinical Associate in 2020. She is passionate about nursing education and hopes to dedicate her nursing experience to the new generations.
 
Ms. Lai has over 20 years of working experience in the nursing field. She was an Advanced Practice Nurse at the Intensive Care Unit in Queen Mary Hospital in Hong Kong. Besides, she participated as a Stimulation Facilitator in the speciality-related Simulation Training Program, and was a Mentor of a Post-registration Certificate Course in Intensive Care Nursing. She was also a Mentor of Specialty Diploma Course in Adult Intensive Care for Nurses from Guangdong Province in 2008. Before starting her teaching role in tertiary education institutions, Ms. Lai joined The Chinese University of Hong Kong Medical Centre and participated in hospital commissioning work, including compilation of standard operating procedures and guidelines and design of clinical pathways. In addition, with a keen interest in providing spiritual and psychological support to critically ill patients, Ms. Lai joined the Critical Incident Support Team in Queen Mary Hospital for over seven years and obtained an Outstanding Staff and Teams Award in 2017.
 
Apart from these, Ms. Lai was keen on sharing her experience and knowledge in different contexts. In 2010, she was invited to share her views on intensive care nursing in a radio programme of Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK). In 2013, she participated in a poster presentation on a topic “Humanistic Practice in Adult Intensive Care Unit of Queen Mary Hospital” in an Annual Scientific Meeting of Hong Kong Association of Critical Care Nurse. Besides, she was also invited by the Cross Centre of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals to share on a topic regarding health growth education - “Road to Wellness” in the same year. In 2014, she was invited by Hong Kong Society of Critical Care Medicine to join their Annual Scientific Meeting as a speaker in an Experience Sharing Seminar on Critical care nursing topic - “A Glimpse of Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) Development in Other Countries”.
 
With a hope to serve the people in need in the world, Ms. Lai is also enthusiastic in participating in various medical missionary trips to different countries, such as Kenya, Pakistan, India, Indonesia, and Iraq, and has joined in volunteer work at Mother Teresa’s House in Calcutta of India.
