Nethersole Institute of Continuing Holistic Health Education (NICHE), an educational unit of the Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Charity Foundation, was established in 2002. NICHE continues the Nethersole spirit of “Compassionate Love” and its culture of “Holistic Health and Holistic Care”. Experiential educational model and translating theory into practice through education, research and publications is advocated to retain and consolidate the Nethersole tradition. NICHE builds up partners with medical, nursing and other healthcare professions, as well as related organizations in collaboration to raise the awareness of people from different walks of life on holistic health so as to enjoy a life in abundance.
Research Areas & Criteria:
NICHE now invites research grant proposals from researchers in the areas of:
- promotion of holistic health for patients/healthcare workers during and/or after COVID-19
- evaluation of holistic care interventions for patients during and/or after COVID-19 in clinical practice and professional education
- promotion of holistic health for the high risk group in developing non-communicable disease(s)
- evaluation of holistic care interventions for patients with chronic disease(s)
- development of holistic health assessment tools
- caring model using holistic approach
- holistic well-being/health, holistic care
* At least one of the research team members should be a healthcare / service provider.

Grant Sum & Duration
The grant sum for the research application can range from HK$80,000 to HK$120,000, and the duration is 1-2 years.
Application
Please complete the application form for NOT more than 10 pages in Times New Roman 12 font size in single line spacing with at least 2.5 cm margin on each side.
For successful applications, the project title, principal investigator and affiliation, and a brief description of the project will be shown on the website of NICHE.
Dissemination of Research/Project Results
On completion of the funded projects, all grant holders must:
- submit a final report to the Research Committee of NICHE
- acknowledge the funding of NICHE in all publications
- agree to disseminate report to conference(s) or event(s) invited by NICHE
