2010
Founded by Tung Wah Group of Hospitals in 2010, Tung Wah College (TWC) completed an Institutional Review (IR) conducted by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ) and was confirmed to meet HKCAAVQ’s accreditation standards without pre-condition.

2011
January
    • Prof. Thomas Wong was appointed as the founding President of TWC.

    • The Education Bureau (EDB) approved the registration of Tung Wah College under the Post Secondary Colleges Ordinance (Cap. 320) as a degree-awarding higher education institution.
September
    • The first two programmes were launched:
      • Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons)
      • Higher Diploma in Nursing.
    • The First Inauguration Ceremony was held.

  • The Higher Diploma in Nursing programme was granted the professional accreditation by the Nursing Council of Hong Kong.
  • Three laboratories were opened:
    • Business Laboratory
    • Life Science Laboratory

    • Mongkok Campus started to be operated by TWC.

  • Five additional programmes were launched:
    • Bachelor of Health Science (Hons) (Major in Nursing and Applied Gerontology)
    • Bachelor of Social Science (Hons) (Major in Applied Psychology)
    • Bachelor of Medical Science (Hons) (Major in Basic Medical Sciences, Forensic Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Radiation Therapy and Veterinary Health Studies)
    • Associate of Health Studies
    • Associate of Social Science.
  • The number of students exceeded 1,000.

    • The Integrative Health Centre was opened.

  • The Bachelor of Health Science (Hons) Major in Nursing programme was granted the professional accreditation by the Nursing Council of Hong Kong.
  • Three additional laboratories were opened:
    • Challenge Based Learning Nursing Laboratory;
    • Applied Psychology Laboratory; and
    • Psychology (Counselling) Laboratory.

September
  • Two additional programmes were launched:
    • Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Occupational Therapy
    • Associate of Business.
  • A total of $52.62 million was granted by the Education Bureau under the Quality Enhancement Support Scheme ($50.77 million for a project to develop an e-library system with The Open University of Hong Kong, Caritas Institute of Higher Education, Chu Hai College of Higher Education and Hong Kong Shue Yan University and $1.85 million for a project to develop effective and interactive clinical simulation learning and teaching kits).
November
    • The First Graduation Ceremony was held to confer the awards of 205 graduates.

  • Seven additional laboratories were opened:
    • Radiation Therapy Laboratory;
    • Medical Science Laboratory;
    • Work Rehabilitation Laboratory;
    • Pediatric Laboratory;
    • Assistive Technology Laboratory;
    • Applied Occupational Therapy Workshop; and
    • Activities of Daily Living Laboratory.

August
  • A total of $15.42 million was granted by Research Grant Council (RGC) in the first round of Competitive Research Funding Schemes for the Local Self-financing Degree Sector ($14.16 million for Institutional Development Scheme and 1.26 million for 2 projects under Faculty Development Scheme).
September
  • The Bachelor of Health Science (Hons) in Nursing (Post-Registration) programme was launched.
  • A total of $1.87 million was granted by the Education Bureau under the Quality Enhancement Support Scheme for a project to develop a location aware e-portfolio system.
December
    • Prof. Yu-hon Lui was appointed as the President of TWC.

  • Students of the Bachelor of Medical Science (Hons) programme (major in Medical Laboratory Science and Radiation Therapy) and the Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Occupational Therapy programme were approved by the Food and Health Bureau to undergo clinical practicum in hospitals.
  • Multi‐purpose Studio was opened for the promotion of cultural activities among students.
  • Two additional laboratories were opened:
    • Physical Assessment Laboratory and Multisensory Room; and
    • Radiotherapy Treatment Planning Laboratory.

March
  • A 3-year New Programmes Development Plan for 2015/2016 to 2017/2018 was approved by the College Council.
August
  • A total of $1.98 million (for 3 projects under Faculty Development Scheme) was granted by the Research Grants Committee (RGC) under the Competitive Research Funding Schemes for the Local Self-financing Degree Sector 2015/2016.
September
  • With the College Council’s approval, a new academic structure with the establishment of 4 Schools (namely Arts and Humanities, Business, Medical and Health Sciences, and Nursing) was implemented to facilitate the College’s development into a private university.
  • A total of $1.67 million was granted by the Education Bureau under the Quality Enhancement Support Scheme for a project to establish the Centre for Academic and Professional Language Enhancement (CAPLE).
November
  • An additional Occupational Therapy Laboratory was opened to strengthen the learning support to students of the Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Occupational Therapy programme.
  • The 5th Anniversary Kick-off Ceremony cum Scholarship and Award Presentation Ceremony was held. This is the first Scholarship and Award Presentation Ceremony organized by the College in recognizing students’ achievements, expressing the College’s gratitude for donors’ supports and allowing donors to witness the awardees’ outstanding performance. Scholarships in a total sum of $2.16 million (including EDB’s scholarship of $1.34 million) were awarded to 140 students with outstanding performance.
  • The 5th anniversary Kick-off ceremony was held on 5 November 2015.

March
  • The Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Occupational Therapy programme was approved by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists.
May
  • The Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) in Entrepreneurship and Management programme was launched. This is Hong Kong’s first degree programme in entrepreneurship.
  • Two additional programmes were launched:
    • Higher Diploma in Nursing (re-launched)
    • Higher Diploma in Psychology.
June
  • Higher Diploma in Early Childhood Education was launched.
July
  • Diploma in Health Studies was launched.
August
  • The Bachelor of Medical Science (Honours) major in Medical Laboratory Science programme was was granted the programme accreditation by the Medical Laboratory Technologists Board.
  • The Bachelor of Medical Science (Honours) major in Radiation Therapy programme was was granted the programme accreditation by the Radiographers Board.
