TWC student confirmed with COVID-19 infection as of 17 August 2020
17/08/2020

(只提供英文版本)

The College was informed yesterday (16 August 2020) that a student of the Nursing School has been confirmed to have been infected with COVID-19, and she is currently hospitalized. The College has contacted the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) for reporting the situation and seeking advice. The College has implemented thorough disinfection and disease prevention measures to safeguard the health of students and staff. According to the advice from the CHP, activities can be resumed after thorough disinfection of the affected areas.

The student attended examinations on 10 and 12 August 2020 on the King’s Park Campus. She put on mask throughout her stay on the campus and passed the temperature screening without any symptoms. According to the instruction of the CHP, the 12 students who attended the same examinations are not regarded as close contacts as precautionary measures, such as mandatory wearing of surgical masks during the examinations and 1.5-meter distancing set among the seats in the examination venue, were implemented. They are not required to undergo mandatory quarantine, but are advised to monitor closely their health status. To rectify a misunderstanding in the media, after verifying with the student concerned, the College would like to clarify that the person accompanying the student to leave the campus on the examination day was not a TWC student.

In view of the development of the COVID-19, all on site examinations of Semester 3 have been replaced by online assessments except a small number of examinations leading to professional qualification which must not be replaced by alternative mode of assessment.  All participants of those examinations have been required to strictly comply with all the stipulated precautionary measures.

The College will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and keep close communication with the CHP. We again urge and remind all our members to continue to stay vigilant and exercise good hygiene amid this critical time, and we wish the student concerned a speedy recovery.
