Frequently Asked QuestionsQ1:If I have no Science background, can I apply?A1:Science background is preferred and those without such background can still apply for the programme.Q2:What is the criteria for major selection?A2:All students entering the first year will study together and at the end of Year 1 they will provided with choices for major selection. Based on the academic performance in Year 1, they will enter their major in second year.Q3:Can students do double major?A3:Currently, under the current Academic policies, TWC does not have “double majors”. To study for the 2nd major only a proportion of the courses completed successfully can be counted again for the 2nd major and it may take longer than the normal study period.Q4:Do all Medical Science students need to have clinical practicum?A4:No, Medical Science students do not have clinical practicum.Q5:What is the career prospect of BMS-major graduate?A5:BMS graduates are prepared to be equipped as Researchers for example Research Assistants / Technicians. They can also embark on the Academic career track if they study for MPhil/PhD studies. BMS-major students can also study further for professional degrees at postgraduate level.Q6:Can Forensic Science (FS) major graduates work in Government laboratory?A6:Yes, Forensic Science major can work in Government laboratories and any other laboratories that are doing investigative laboratory work.Q7:Can Basic Medical Science (BMS) major graduates articulate to Medicine programme? (Both local and overseas)A7:Yes, BMS major graduates can apply to local and overseas professional schools for Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary, Chiropractry, Physiotherapy programmes. Such students would be considered as “graduate” entry and may get credits for courses done depending on the Schools that they apply.
