Welcome to the Quality Assurance Office (QAO).
The concept of quality assurance (QA) and the related practices, having been developed for decades around the world, are now an integral part in almost every tertiary education institution in Hong Kong. Tung Wah College (the College), since its establishment in 2010, has been emphasizing the importance of QA in every stage of programme planning, development, delivery and review. With an aim of offering quality tertiary education to the community, the College has been paying every effort in engaging the stakeholders, including students, employers and teachers, effectively in its internal QA at the institutional level and programme level. The College requires every learning programme to go through a rigorous internal QA process so that the planned programme is ensured to meet the stated objectives and the standards of the pitched level of the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework (QF). As such, students, being one of the major stakeholder groups, can be effectively facilitated to attain the learning outcomes as required by the respective industry and the community as a whole. For the purpose of quality enhancement, all of the College’s programmes are subject to regular reviews and changes such that the relevancy and currency of the expected learning outcomes can always be assured.
Similar to other self-financing tertiary education institutions, the College is required to undergo external QA through seeking learning programme accreditation (LPA) and re-accreditation (re-LPA) by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ). In 2020, the College was successfully granted a Programme Area Accreditation (PAA) status at QF Level 5 in the programme area of “Occupational Therapy”, not only allowing the College to develop and operate learning programmes in the approved programme area without going through the HKCAAVQ’s LPA and Re-LPA, but also recognizing and proving the continuous robustness and effectiveness of the College’s internal QA system.
QAO, as the College’s designated unit responsible for formulating, implementing and reviewing the internal QA related policies and procedures, has been committed to working closely with both internal and external stakeholders for ensuring and continuously enhancing the quality of all programmes. With the continuous support and active engagement of the stakeholders, QAO will continue to play its specific role in quality assuring learning programmes at the programme level, as well as reviewing and refining the College’s internal QA system at the institutional level. To achieve so, stakeholder support and feedback are of crucial importance. I invite every stakeholder to work with us for making contribution to the College’s further development in the coming years.
