We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Library Officer to support the management and development of our Institutional Repository Project. The successful candidate will play a vital role in organizing, archiving, and disseminating scholarly outputs, ensuring accessibility and long-term preservation of institutional assets.

 

Duties

The appointee will be required but not limited to:

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the institutional repository system, ensuring smooth functionality and user experience;
  • Manage metadata creation, verification, and enhancement for repository records in alignment with established standards;
  • Facilitate the collection, upload, and organization of digital resources, including theses, research papers, datasets, and other academic outputs;
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including faculty members and researchers, to promote the repository and facilitate contributions;
  • Provide technical support and training sessions for staff and help in updating user guides and workflow;
  • Monitor repository usage, generate reports, and identify opportunities for system improvement; and
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Information Management, or a related field;
  • 3 years' experience in library systems, digital archiving, or metadata management is preferred;
  • Good IT knowledge and proficiency in using repository platforms and tools (e.g., DSpace, EPrints, etc.) is advantageous;
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with attention to detail; and
  • Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively and collegially with colleagues and adapt to evolving project needs.

 

Salary will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
