Tung Wah College (TWC) held Health Day 2025 at Tsim Sha Tsui Community Hall on 29 March. The event attracted over 1,000 attendees who explored physical and mental well-being topics in an engaging atmosphere. Distinguished guests included Mr. Edward Yu Kin Keung, JP, District Officer of Yau Tsim Mong; Dr. David Lam Tzit Yuen, HKSAR Legislative Council Member; Mr. Lam Cho Kwong, Chairman of Supervisory Committee of The Tsim Sha Tsui District Kai Fong Welfare Association (TSTKFA); Mr. Yan Mou Keung Ronald, Vice Chairman of Executive Committee of TSTKFA; Mr. Peter Lee Ka Keung, Staff Officer of Auxiliary Medical Service; as well as representatives from supporting organisations and sponsors.
Professor Sally Chan, President of TWC, highlighted in her speech that both physical and mental well-being are crucial. She noted the decline in Hong Kong's Happiness Index to its lowest in seven years, urging more focus on this issue. She stated, “This calls for greater attention to the subject matter. Through the Health Day, our first large-scale community event in celebration of our 15th anniversary, we aspire to enhance public awareness on these topics and encourage everyone to embrace a healthy lifestyle and feel empowered. TWC is dedicated to nurturing the next generations of professionals in the healthcare, elderly services, and other social sectors, who will safeguard the health of the community with compassion and commitment.”
Entitled “Embracing the Future of Physical and Mental Health; The Impact of Healthcare Technology”, the Health Day featured an array of booths managed by faculty members, staff and students from TWC’s schools and units, and industry experts. In addition to offering professional health advice and complimentary medical check-ups and consultations, the team took the opportunity to share information about TWC’s programmes, including admission requirements and career prospects, engaging numerous participants. State-of-the-art healthcare technology was presented, along with eight seminars offering diverse insights into healthcare issues.
