Programme Description
Programme Leaflet:
 
The programme is to equip students with the necessary knowledge, skills and attitude to give clients and their families the care and assistance needed to live in the residential care homes. The curriculum is designed based on the concepts of caring, safety, critical thinking and professional approach to practice. The objectives of the programme are:
  1. to develop students’ ability to provide personal care and assistance that cater to the individual needs and abilities of clients/residents;
  2. to enhance students’ communication skills for the delivery of personal care as well as for the facilitation of teamwork;
  3. to develop students’ understanding of the concepts of holistic care that promotes the client/resident’s physical, psycho-social and spiritual health and wellbeing;
  4. to facilitate student’s development in analytical problem solving skills; and
  5. to develop students’ basic skills to practise in residential care homes for the elderly and persons with disabilities.
