General Information

This interdisciplinary programme bridges healthcare management with digital innovation, focusing on AI, Big Data, and Health Information Management. It equips experienced professionals with cutting-edge expertise in AI, Digital Health, and Smart Health Services, empowering them to lead data-driven transformations that enhance patient outcomes, optimise service delivery, and shape the future of smart healthcare in Hong Kong and beyond. 

The objectives of the programme are as follows: 

1. To advance students’ mastery of competencies and continuous reflective approaches in leading health services, especially related to Digital Health, AI, and Health Information Management; 
2. To advance students’ mastery of competencies in Health Services Management; 
3. To enable students to critically analyse and appraise cases in smart health services management, with a focus on strategic decision-making, leadership implications, and policy advocacy; 
4. To empower students’ leadership capacity and enable them to initiate, lead, and advocate for transformation initiatives in Digital Health, AI, and Health Information Management within health-related organizations; 
5. To equip students to select and justify appropriate study designs related to digital health, AI or Health Information Management for dissertation or project assessment; and 
6. To train students to translate the knowledge of smart health services management into practice through real-world, industry-related applications.

This programme responds to the ever-innovative environment of the healthcare industry, adopting an interprofessional and interdisciplinary collaborative model with a curriculum designed for professional development. It aims to comprehensively enhance the management capabilities of healthcare professionals, cultivating their forward-thinking mindset and visionary leadership in both governmental and non-governmental healthcare institutions.

The programme also keeps pace with global development, covering cutting-edge topics such as smart health operations, med-tech project management, and healthcare data governance. It is particularly suitable for professionals with backgrounds in information technology or healthcare services.

Part-time: 2 years


Mode of Study 
This programme offers two modes of study: English as medium of instruction (EMI) and Chinese as medium of instruction (CMI).  

English (EMI):  All courses will be conducted and assessed in English
Chinese (CMI): All courses will be conducted in Putonghua and assessed in Chinese

The programme comprises of six Core courses, one Elective course and one Capstone Project, totaling 27 credits.

• Digital Transformation and AI in Health Services (3 credits)
• Smart Health Services Management — A Global Perspective (3 credits)
• AI-driven Health Data Science (3 credits)
• Smart Leadership and Change in Health Services (3 credits)
• Quality, Safety and Risk Management in Smart Health (3 credits)
• Advanced Resesarch Methods (3 credits)

Electives (Choose one): 

• Health System, Policy and Social Impact (3 credits)
• Health Technology and Biomedical Engineering Management  (3 credits)
• Business Management and Service Design in Health Services (3 credits)

Capstone Project *:

• Postgraduate Capstone Project in Smart Health Services Management  (6 credits)

Academic Qualifications
Applicants should meet the following requirements: 
Bachelor’s degree (or an equivalent qualification at QF Level 5) in Healthcare, Information Technology, Management, or a related discipline from a recognised institution

English Language Proficiency Requirement (For applicants of the English Medium of Instruction (EMI) mode)

Applicants applying for admission with qualifications from universities (or equivalent institutions) where the medium of instruction or assessment is NOT English must provide proof of one of the following: 

• IELTS (Academic): overall band score of at least 6.0 (at least 5.5 in each sub-category); OR 
• TOEFL (iBT): score of 74 or above; OR 
• College English Test (CET) Band 6: A minimum overall score of 500 and grade B in the CET-SET (Speaking English Test). 

Chinese Language Proficiency Requirement (For applicants of the Chinese Medium of Instruction (CMI) mode)

• Native speaker of Mandarin Chinese; OR
• Hold qualifications from universities (or equivalent institutions) where the medium of instruction or assessment is Mandarin Chinese; OR
• Possess a Putonghua Proficiency Test certificate of Grade 3, Level B or above, as recognized by the National Language and Character Working Committee (or State Language Commission).

2026/27 Cohort 

• Tuition fees are normally payable in two instalments per academic year and must be settled before the commencement of each semester.
• Newly admitted students are required to settle the outstanding balance of the tuition fee for the first semester upon programme registration.
• All fees paid are non-refundable and non-transferable.
