Vision
- We envision a sustainable and distinctive TWC education that takes innovative, collaborative, student-centred, and evidence-based approaches to enhancing and delivering quality higher education to contribute to the community.
Mission
- To collaborate with academic units and faculty members, as well as professional bodies and industry partners, to develop innovative pedagogies that provide a rich learning experience, engage participation, and promote deep learning approaches and in-depth expertise development.
- To develop a network and provide a knowledge exchange platform with local and international higher education to promote sharing of new ideas, creativity, growth, and development in order to provide best teaching practises and scholarships
- To enrich the academic learning environment and improve student support in a way that encourages student-centered learning for experimentation, creativity, and innovation, and in which relevant and appropriate assessments effectively evaluate students' knowledge and skills.
- Through participatory and engaged learning, to promote a culture of learning and sharing of knowledge. To deploy College-wide interactive learning applications, collect learning data for learning analytics at both the individual level (e.g., identifying issues) and the systemic level (e.g., informing the design of modules and programmes), and analyse the digital footprints of students ' learning processes.
- To invest in the development of a sustainable campus through the provision of an innovative and flexible learning environment, which includes but is not limited to digital, experiential, blended, and face-to-face modes of learning and utilises information technology to enhance teaching and learning
The Centre will perform the following functions:
- Provide a wide range of services and initiatives to support the development of high-quality learning and teaching outcomes for academic staff;
- Provide professional development programmes for academic staff ranging from creative curriculum design to innovative teaching pedagogies and effective assessment and feedback;
- Establish an academic repository and foster a community of practice where academic staff can collaborate, share knowledge, and offer one another teaching resources;
- Invite outside specialists to hold webinars for academic staff to discuss current and future higher education challenges and opportunities and innovative teaching techniques;
- Provide technical seminars and hands-on training workshops on emerging technologies to improve the digital proficiency of academic staff for technology-enhanced learning (TEL);
- Implement annual College professional development initiatives, including College Teaching Grant and Teaching Excellence Award; and
- Initiate and support learning and teaching action research projects and monitor annual Quality Enhancement Support Scheme (QESS) applications for the College.
