2010
March
Tung Wah College (TWC) was founded by Tung Wah Group of Hospitals. TWC passed through the Institutional Review (IR) by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ) without pre-conditions in September 2010.
 
2011
April
The Education Bureau approved the registration of TWC under the Post Secondary Colleges Ordinance (Cap. 320) as a degree-awarding higher education institution.
 
September - October
The first two programmes were launched in 2011/2012:
‧ Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons)
‧ Higher Diploma in Nursing (approved by The Nursing Council of Hong Kong as Enrolled Nurse training programme in December 2011) 

 

2012
July
Tung Wah College Cheung Kung Hai Memorial Building and Cheung Chin Lan Hong Building (Mongkok Campus) commenced operation.
 
September
Launched five programmes: 
  • Bachelor of Health Science (Hons) (Major in Nursing and Applied Gerontology). The nursing major was approved by The Nursing Council of Hong Kong as Registered Nurse training programme in December.
  • Bachelor of Medical Sciences, Forensic Science, Medical Laboratory Science, radiation Therapy and Veterinary Health Studies)
  • Bachelor of Social Science (Hons) (Major in Applied Psychology)
  • Associate of Health Studies
  • Associate of Social Science

 

October
The Integrative Health Centre commenced operation.
 
2013

September

Launched two more programmes:

  • Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Occupational Therapy
  • Associate of Business

 

November
The first graduation ceremony was held.

 

2014
July
The Education Bureau announced that the Bachelor of Health Science (Hons) in Nursing would be included in the Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors (SSSDP) funded by the Government starting from the 2015/2016 academic year.

 

September

The Bachelor of Health Science (Hons) in Nursing (Post-Registration) programme was launched.

 

December

Students of the Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Medical Laboratory Science, the Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Radiation Therapy and the Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Occupational Therapy programme were approved by the Food and Health Bureau to have clinical practicum in hospitals.

 

2015
September
A new academic structure with the establishment of 4 Schools (namely Arts and Humanities, Business, Medical and Health Sciences, and Nursing) was implemented to facilitate the College’s development into a private university.

A total of $1.67 million was granted by the Education Bureau under the Quality Enhancement Support Scheme (QESS) for a project to establish the Centre for Academic and Professional Language Enhancement (CAPLE).

 
November
The 5th Anniversary Kick-off Ceremony cum Scholarship and Award Presentation Ceremony was held.

 

2016
May - July

Six more programmes were launched:

  • Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) in Entrepreneurship and Management
  • Higher Diploma in Nursing (re-launched) 
  • Higher Diploma in Psychology
  • Higher Diploma in Early Childhood Education
  • Higher Diploma in Business Studies
  • Diploma in Health Studies (Navigation Scheme For Young Persons In Care Services)

 

 
August
The Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Medical Laboratory Science and the Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Radiation Therapy received the professional accreditation of the Medical Laboratory Technologists Board and the Radiographers’ Board of the Supplementary Medical Professions Council respectively and were included the Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors (SSSDP) since academic year 2017/2018. A celebration reception was held to mark the milestone.

 

October

TWC held the 5th Anniversary Dinner to mark the monumental moment of the College.

 

2017
July
Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Occupational Therapy was recognised by the Occupational Therapists Board under the Supplementary Medical Professions Council. TWC became the first self-financing institution to offer professionally accredited occupational therapy programme. The Education Bureau announced that the programme would be included in the SSSDP funded by the Government starting from 2018/2019 academic year.
 
September
Bachelor of Education (Hons) in Early Childhood Education was launched in 2017/2018. TWC became the first self-financing institution registered under the Post Secondary Colleges Ordinance (Cap. 320) to offer accredited early childhood education degree programme.

 

2018

February

TWC received the approval from the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China to start admission of Mainland students.

 
September
Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Physiotherapy was launched in 2018/2019. TWC became the first self-financing institution to offer such programme. The Education Bureau announced that the programme would be included in the Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors (SSSDP) funded by the Government starting from 2019/2020 academic year.

 

2019
March
Two sub-degree programmes, the Higher Diploma in Nursing and the Higher Diploma in Health Science were included in Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors (SSSDP) by the Government. The number of SSSDP programmes of TWC totaled seven in academic year 2019/2020.
 
September
Bachelor of Management (Honours) in Social and Business Sustainability was launched in 2019/2020, making TWC the first self-financing institution to offer such programme.
 
 
2020
April
Completed the Programme Area Accreditation (PAA) exercise of the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications and received the first PAA status in Occupational Therapy, marking its first step to become a private university.
 
June
The Opening Ceremony of Tung Wah College – Kwai Hing Campus cum Kick-off Ceremony of TWC 10th Anniversary Activities was held.
 
 
2021
May
The 10th Anniversary Ceremony was held.
 
June
Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Applied Gerontology was selected for Pilot Project on the Development of Applied Degree Programmes. The Education Bureau announced that the programme would be included in the SSSDP funded by the Government starting from 2022/2023 academic year.
 
2022
July
Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Physiotherapy was recognised by the Supplementary Medical Professions Council, making it the first self-financing bachelor of science in physiotherapy programme to receive professional recognition.
 
September
Bachelor of Health Information and Services Management (Honours) was launched in 2022/2023.
 
October
The first Honorary Fellowship Conferment Ceremony was held.
 
2023
January
The Social Welfare Department has commissioned Tung Wah College to provide 150 fully-subsidised places from 2023/2024 to 2027/2028 in respect of the Higher Diploma in Nursing programme.
 
September
Bachelor of Health Information and Services Management (Honours) has been selected by the ​Education Bureau for the second round of the Pilot Project on the Development of Applied Degree Programmes. The Education Bureau announced that the programme would be included in the SSSDP funded by the Government starting from 2024/2025 academic year.
 
2024
Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Medical Imaging will be launched in 2024/2025, making TWC the first self-financing institution to offer such programme.
