Nurturing Future-Ready Professionals through Social Care, Interdisciplinary Learning and Practice-Based Education
14/05/2026

The final episode of Tung Wah College’s New Chapter on Commercial Radio 1, broadcast on 12 May 2026, featured Professor Alex Chan, Dean of the School of Arts and Humanities, and Dr Fowie Ng, Associate Professor of the School of Management. During the programme, they shared the distinctive strengths, educational approaches and future directions of their respective Schools, demonstrating Tung Wah College’s commitment to nurturing future-ready professionals through its core value of “social care”.

The School of Arts and Humanities nurtures students in areas such as Early Childhood Education, Applied Psychology and Applied Gerontology, equipping them with professional knowledge, empathy and a strong commitment to serving the community. Meanwhile, the School of Management integrates management education with healthcare information, service innovation, social business and sustainable development, preparing students to respond to the evolving needs of different industries and society by offering two programmes, namely Health Information and Services Management, and Management in Social and Business Sustainability.

The programme also highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and practice-based learning across both Schools. By incorporating digital technology, artificial intelligence, internships and capstone projects into the curriculum, students are provided with opportunities to connect classroom learning with real-world challenges. These experiences strengthen their problem-solving abilities, collaboration skills and professional judgement, enabling them to respond effectively to the evolving needs of society and the workplace.
