Tung Wah College Confers Honorary Fellowships on Three Distinguished Individuals

Tung Wah College (TWC) held its Second Honorary Fellowship Conferment Ceremony today (18 March). Mr. Herman Wai Ho Man, Chairman of TWGHs Board of Directors 2023/2024 cum Board of Governors of TWC, conferred honorary fellowships upon three distinguished individuals in recognition of their outstanding professional achievements and exceptional contributions to the society. The recipients are Mrs. Viola Chan Man Yee Wai, BBS, Dr the Hon Edward Leong Che Hung, GBM, GBS, JP, and Professor Carl Leung Ka Kui.

At the Ceremony, Mr. Herman Wai Ho Man, Chairman of TWGHs Board of Directors 2023/2024 cum Board of Governors of TWC, applauded the three awardees for their outstanding accomplishments, not only for their relentless pursuit of excellence through their professional achievements and unwavering dedication to serving others in our community, but also for their invaluable contributions to the College. “The diverse backgrounds of the three Honorary Fellows, spanning across the medical profession, higher education sector, community services, and charity, align with the key spectrum of services rendered by the TWGHs. Their devoted commitment reinforces our deep-rooted mission to provide comprehensive services to the community, nurture the talents, and build a better society. Their actions have made a positive impact on the lives of countless individuals and have inspired us to follow in their footsteps.”

Professor Sally Chan, President of TWC, also conveyed her heartfelt congratulations and gratitude to these esteemed individuals for their unstinting support to the College. She said, “The three recipients have made remarkable achievements in respective professional aspects and enormous contributions to education development and public services for the community. They have been devoted supporters of TWC’s developments over the years. Their remarkable contributions have laid the foundation for the College’s advancements and set us apart on a path of unprecedented success.”

Professor Chan also thanked Mrs. Viola Chan for her significant contribution to the College. “As our Founding Chairman of the Board of Governors and College Council, Mrs. Chan had a clear vision of the pressing demand for healthcare talents in Hong Kong and dedicated herself to developing healthcare professional programmes in TWC to address societal needs. Under her visionary leadership, the College has achieved remarkable growth over the past decade. It has become a tertiary institution renowned for its high quality and practical education.”

Speaking on behalf of the three Honorary Fellowship recipients, Mrs. Viola Chan thanked TWC for conferring Honorary Fellowships upon them. She said that although this year’s recipients were thriving in different areas of their professions, they were united at the College. They have been collaborating and working towards a common goal: the betterment of TWC. With faith and commitment, they have contributed wholeheartedly their knowledge, expertise, and dedicated services to the development of the College to deliver quality education. “We feel deeply attached to the College and are proud to be part of its continuous growth and contribution to the community, as we share the joy of TWC’s reputation for quality and practical nursing and healthcare education.” She also hoped that, with the support of the three Fellows, TWC would reach even greater heights and attain the goal of becoming a quality private university that takes root in Hong Kong, serves our country, and opens to the world.
