Tung Wah College has received a grant of nearly HK$3.5 million under the Institutional Development Scheme Research Infrastructure Grant for the establishment of the Translational Research Centre for Digital Mental Health (TRC-DMH). The in-house opening ceremony was held at TWC’s Mong Kok Campus on 23 April 2024 and was well attended by over 50 academic and administrative staff to witness the establishment of the College's first research centre, which aims to raise public awareness and understanding of mental health.
Professor Sally Chan, Co-director of TRC-DMH and President of TWC, highlighted in the welcoming remarks, “The establishment of TRC-DMH marks a significant milestone for the College on its path to becoming a private university. It also demonstrates the College’s expanding research capabilities and its commitment to making a positive social impact.”
Under the leadership of the two Co-directors Professor Sally Chan and Professor Alex Chan, TRC-DMH will serve as an interdisciplinary translational research platform dedicated to advancing innovative digital mental health research. In response to societal needs for more effective mental health services, the centre will organise technical workshops, public research lectures, visiting scholars’ seminars, and international conference to strengthen TWC’s research capacity. The centre will also conduct and publish interdisciplinary translational research to foster innovation and enhance the well-being of the community.
