The Board of Governors of Tung Wah College (TWC) announced the appointment of Dr. Lau Hing Keung, George, as the College’s new Vice President (Administration & Development) with a five-year term of office from 16 September 2024.

Dr. Lau is an all-rounded professional executive with extensive senior management experience in tertiary education institutions. He served as the Assistant Executive Director of Vocational Training Council (VTC) and Deputy Academic Director of the Engineering Discipline from October 2018 to August 2024. He concurrently acted as the Principal of Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE) (Tuen Mun) September 2019 to August 2021, and the Principal of Youth College (Kwai Chung & Pokfulam) from September 2021 to August 2024. In these roles, he oversaw the campus operations and strategic developments of the campuses.

Dr. Lau has more than 30 years of academic experience in vocational and professional education and training (VPET) at different QF levels. Prior to joining the VTC, he served as the Head of Science at the School of Science and Technology of the Open University of Hong Kong, where he developed the bachelor's and master's degree programmes in testing and certification and established the teaching facilities for these programmes between 2010 to 2018. Dr. Lau is actively involved in community services and has held significant positions in several professional organisations. In 2016, he chaired the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Hong Kong Section. Currently, he is a member of the Panel on Manpower Development of Hong Kong Council for Testing and Certification, and a member of the Committee on Technology Education of the Curriculum Development Council.

Dr. Lau received his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Newcastle upon Tyne Polytechnic, Master of Philosophy Degree in Electronic Engineering from the Hong Kong Polytechnic, and Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from The University of Hong Kong.

TWC welcomes Dr. Lau to the College and is confident that with his broad and extensive experience, he will assist the President in leading TWC to achieve its goal of becoming a renowned Hong Kong private university with a global outlook.
