Tung Wah College (TWC) signed a cooperation framework agreement with six prominent medical enterprises from mainland China. This strategic partnership aims to nurture healthcare talent and foster research collaboration, propelling the development of healthcare education through industry-academia-research cooperation.
The signing ceremony took place today (20 January) at the campus of Tung Wah College. The agreement was signed by Professor Sally Chan, President of Tung Wah College, along with distinguished representatives from the collaborating enterprises, including:
• Ms. Duan Peijia, Founder, DSmilife Orthodontic Center
• Ms. Pan Wei, Co-founder, Hong Kong Osmunda Medical Device Service Group Limited
• Dr. Cheng Zihao, Medical Superintendent, Shenzhen Lansheng Brain Hospital
• Mr. Wang Huimin, Cooperative Education Contact Person, Guangzhou Huayin Healthcare Group Company Ltd.
• Ms. Tan Yanmei, Person-in-Charge, Guangzhou iBorn Medical Group
• Ms. Xu Wei, Director, Scinosen (Shenzhen) Gene Industry Development Company Ltd.
In response to Hong Kong's aging population and the growing demand for healthcare talent, Tung Wah College plans to launch a Master’s degree programme in Health Information and Services Management in September next year. This programme will provide continuing education opportunities for professionals in healthcare and related fields, equipping them with advanced smart health and services management knowledge and skills, with the aim of improving health service standards and efficiency.
Under the terms of the agreement, partner enterprises will contribute market insights, case studies, and research data to support the programme's curriculum development. They will also offer students internships, company visits, and job opportunities. Additionally, the College will invite industry experts to deliver guest lectures, share valuable experiences, and collaborate on joint research projects that align with the Greater Bay Area's healthcare industry needs, fostering the realisation of the College’s research outcomes.
In her speech, Professor Sally Chan stated, “The six enterprises involved in this agreement are leaders in their respective fields. They are from diverse areas such as medical testing, gene therapy, medical devices, orthodontics, obstetrics and gynecology, and neurology. Through this collaboration, we hope to leverage our combined strengths to nurture high-quality healthcare talent and provide opportunities for youth in Guangdong and Hong Kong to thrive in a rapidly evolving landscape.”
This partnership marks a significant step in deepening industry-academia-research collaboration between Hong Kong and mainland China, paving the way for innovative healthcare education and enriching learning opportunities for students from both sides.
