Tung Wah College (TWC) signed a Memorandum of Agreement with South China Vocational Education Group (SCVE Group) today (8 May 2025) to establish scholarships and a Smart Health Applied Research Centre.
This morning, an agreement signing and cheque presentation ceremony took place. The scholarships will enable Nursing graduates from Guangdong Lingnan Institute of Technology to join the senior year of TWC's Bachelor of Health Science (Honours) in Nursing programme. The Smart Health Applied Research Centre will unite talent from both institutions to create evidence-based solutions that enhance public mental and physical health. The research team will share their findings with the industry and introduce products and services to benefit society.
Professor Sally Chan, President of TWC, expressed her sincere gratitude for the support from the SCVE Group. "We are honoured to receive the generous donation from the SCVE Group. The scholarships will facilitate student exchanges between our two cities and help cultivate nursing professionals with a global perspective for the Greater Bay Area (GBA). The smart-health-focused research centre will strive to translate research outcomes into practical applications, enhancing the quality of life for the public and promoting sustainable development of the field. This industry-academia-research collaboration aligns with our goal of becoming a University of Applied Sciences and will complement our existing Translational Research Centre for Digital Mental Health (TRC-DMH) to benefit residents in Hong Kong and the GBA.”
Mr. Han Liqing, President of Guangzhou Lingnan Education Group who led the SCVE Group delegation, stated, “The SCVE Group aims to nurture skilled talent for the community, maintaining that quality education is a key element of industrial success. Through our collaboration, we seek to enhance industry-academia interactions and contribute to the healthcare sector in the GBA. This partnership will also promote innovative inter-disciplinary initiatives within our institutions and expand students' perspectives, improving their competitiveness. This partnership facilitates resource sharing and sets a standard for educational cooperation between the two cities, providing a solid foundation for development and opportunities for the youth in the GBA.”
