Tung Wah College Awards Scholarships Totalling HK$24.18 million to Over 700 Outstanding Students

Tung Wah College (TWC) held the “Scholarship and Award Presentation Ceremony 2025” at King’s Park Campus on 18 June 2025 to recognise students’ outstanding performance in academics, social services and other areas. A record high of 824 scholarships amounted to HK$24.18 million were awarded to 716 students. Mr. York Tseng Hing Yip, Chairman of College Council of TWC, Members of TWGHs Board of Directors 2025/2026; Professor Sally Chan, President of TWC; donors and other guests attended the Ceremony to witness the outstanding achievements of the awardees.

Mr. York Tseng Hing Yip, Chairman of College Council, congratulated all awardees in his speech and commended them for their tireless efforts and perseverance in achieving their accomplishments, making them a source of pride for the College. He also encouraged students to remain true to their passions, and to continue moving forward boldly in pursuit of their dreams.

In her vote of thanks, Professor Sally Chan, President of TWC, expressed deep appreciation to the HKSAR Government, TWGHs, and donors from various sectors of the community for their unwavering support to the College. She noted that TWC has successfully completed its third Programme Area Accreditation and expects to become a private university and University of Applied Sciences in the academic year 2025/2026. Professor Chan highlighted that TWC is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year and will host a series of anniversary events, including the International Conference on Positive Psychology 2.0 in late June, the Alumni Homecoming Dinner in September, and the 15th Anniversary Gala Dinner in November. She cordially invited all community members to support and share in the joy of these celebrations.

Student representative, Ms. Joanna Tsang, studying for a Bachelor of Health Science (Honours) in Nursing programme, received Tung Wah College Outstanding Student Awards, Global Student Ambassador Award and Reaching Out Award. In her speech, she expressed that receiving these awards is both an affirmation and encouragement of her efforts. Over the past four years, she has gained professional academic knowledge from the programme and accumulated practical experience from the clinical practicum, which has reinforced her determination to become a compassionate nurse. She also expressed gratitude to the College for encouraging students to step out of their comfort zones and discover their potential. By participating in various College’s activities, she believes they are becoming better individuals who care for society, develop leadership skills, and broaden their horizons.
