Professor Lorna Suen, Dean of the School of Nursing at TWC is inducted into 2023 International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing for her distinguished accomplishments in improving the nursing profession. Professor Suen attended the 34th International Nursing Research Congress in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates from 20 to 23 July, where she received the honour alongside 21 world-renowned nurse researchers. Professor Suen also gave a presentation on “Evidence-based Practice Using Auriculotherapy for Sleep Disturbances” to share the research findings on auriculotherapy at the Congress.

Following the induction into the 2022 Class of Fellows of the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN), Professor Suen once again received international recognition for her impactful research. Currently, there are 5 scholars from Hong Kong who have been inducted into the Hall of Fame, and two of whom are from TWC namely Professor Lorna Suen and Professor Sally Chan, President of TWC, who has received this recognition since 2013.

Established in 2010, the Hall of Fame recognises nurse researchers who have achieved significant and sustained international acclaim for influencing the nursing profession and the people it serves.

Professor Lorna Suen is currently the Dean of the School of Nursing at TWC. She has over 20 years of teaching experience in tertiary institutions in Hong Kong. Before joining TWC she was the Director of Squina International Centre for Infection Control and Associate Professor at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Professor Suen’s research interests include complementary and alternative medicine (mainly auriculotherapy and auricular diagnosis), and infection control. Her research findings have also had significant societal impacts.

Professor Suen has published over 150 academic articles in international refereed journals and once served as editorial board member of different international refereed journals, including the American Journal of Infection Control, and Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine. Professor Suen obtained the Fellow in Research and Education (FHKAN) from Hong Kong Academy of Nursing in 2013, and was inducted as Fellows of American Academy of Nursing (FAAN) in 2022. She was named on Stanford University 's List of the World Top 2% most-cited scientists in the past three consecutive years. She is frequently invited by various universities and conferences (local, national, and international) as keynote speaker, plenary speaker, moderator, or guest speaker. She has also served as a convenor of the East Asian Forum of Nursing Scholars (EAFONS) formed by seven countries, which aims to strengthen and promote high-quality doctoral education for nurses.
