Programme Description
This course aims at providing continuous professional development opportunities for occupational therapy practitioners working with children in hospitals, early intervention centers, or school-based settings, to enhance their specific practical skills in incorporating evidence-based and contemporary occupational therapy practices particularly for early intervention and prevention, developmental disabilities, special educational needs and at-risk child development. Major topics will include current intervention strategies for children with sensory processing disorders, executive functioning disorders, oculomotor anomalies and visual skills related disorders, anxiety and stress related issues, cancer and rare diseases etc. Emerging occupational therapy practices, for example, in support of relationship-based social-emotional functioning and family empowerment, transition care and Life Planning Education in school-based settings for adolescents and young adults with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and intellectual disability, etc. will also be included in the course.
