Tung Wah College (TWC) received around 38,000 admission applications this year, marking a 10% increase compared with the same period last year. The eight JUPAS programmes offered by TWC attracted strong interest, with more than 23,000 applications received for degree programmes under the Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors (SSSDP), representing a nearly 20% year-on-year increase.

Among the most sought-after programmes was the Bachelor of Health Science (Hons) in Nursing, which received nearly 8,000 applications, an increase of more than 20% from last year. It remained the most popular programme among applicants, followed by the Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Physiotherapy and the Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Medical Laboratory Science.

In terms of competition, the Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Radiation Therapy was the most competitive programme, with 138 applicants competing for each place. It was followed by the Bachelor of Health Information and Services Management (Hons) and the Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Medical Laboratory Science.

Applications for the Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Applied Gerontology and the Bachelor of Health Information and Services Management (Hons), both under the Pilot Scheme on Applied Degree Programmes, increased by 50% compared with last year. This reflects the growing popularity of applied degree education, as well as the increasing relevance of the silver economy and smart healthcare to Hong Kong’s future development.

Professor Sally Chan, President of TWC, said: “Overall admission applications increased by 10% this year, reflecting strong recognition of TWC’s applied education approach. Our progress towards becoming a private university and a University of Applied Sciences (UAS) is on track. We completed the Institutional Review (IR) and are confident of submitting the application for the granting of university title within this year. We also thank the Education Bureau for approving an increase in the quota for admission of Mainland students to 30% in the 2026/2027 academic year. At present, our non-local applications have increased by 30% compared with last year, and we hope to gradually raise the quota to 40% in the future, attracting students from around the world and helping to build Hong Kong into an international hub for high-calibre talent.”

TWC will also continue to offer its EduCare@TWC Entrance Scholarships this year. DSE candidates admitted to designated programmes and meeting specified scholarship criteria may receive scholarships ranging from HK$30,000 to HK$60,000. Nine programmes are included, covering Health Information and Services Management, Biomedical Science, Forensic Biomedical Science, Applied Gerontology, Applied Psychology, Social and Business Sustainability and Early Childhood Education, among others. After deduction of the Non-means-tested Subsidy Scheme for Self-financing Undergraduate Studies in Hong Kong (NMTSS) or SSSDP subsidy, some programmes offer first-year tuition waived. TWC also provides a range of scholarships and bursaries to reward outstanding students and support those with financial needs.

On the release day of the DSE results, TWC will conduct on-site admissions at its King’s Park Campus for two consecutive days. Selected programmes will also offer on-site interviews, with applicants able to receive admission results as early as within 24 hours of submitting their applications.
