Professor Sylvia Yuk-kuen FUNG

Professor Sylvia Fung has been the Professor of Health Services Management at Tung Wah College, Hong Kong from 2013-2020.  She is now the vice-president of the Hong Kong Academy of Nursing, Honorary Associate Professor of the School of Nursing of the University of Hong Kong and Honorary Professor of the School of Nursing of Metropolitan University of Hong Kong.

She was the ex-Chief Nurse Executive of Hong Kong Hospital Authority from 2008-2012, taking charge of 21,000 nurses.  She is a leader in many professional associations and government consultative committees locally and internationally.  She is now serving as a Member of the Council on Human Reproductive Technology, Member of the Public Complaint Committee of the Hong Kong Hospital Authority, Member of the Complaint Committee of the Private Healthcare Facilities as well as Member of the Hospital Governing Committee of Shatin Cheshire Home in Hong Kong.  She has served as a member of the Hong Kong Elderly Commission, the President of Hong Kong Midwives Association, the Director of the Board cum Asia Pacific representative of the International Confederation of Midwives as well as the International Observer Trustee of the Commission for Foreign Nursing Graduates in the United States.

Professor Sylvia Fung was awarded the Outstanding Staff and Outstanding Contributor of Hong Kong Hospital Authority in 2004 and 2012 respectively for her exemplary performance.  In 2005, she was awarded the prestigious Florence Nightingale Medal by the International Red Cross for her commitment and contribution to nursing services and mankind.  In 2013, she was awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star Medal by the Hong Kong SAR Government for her dedicated services to the healthcare of Hong Kong. Moreover, she was awarded the “Leader of the Year 2013” in the category of Community and Public Affairs by Sing Tao News Corporation of Hong Kong.
