Research & ImpactNews & EventsAbout NURThe Nursing profession has always played an important role in the medical and healthcare industry. Its scope of professional practice covers the community, schools, hospitals, elderly care homes, etc. In this 21st century, Hong Kong is facing challenges associated with the rapidly ageing population leading to increased demand for healthcare services and professionals. To this end, nurse educators must uphold their spirit of excellence and demonstrate exceptional dedication to nurturing the finest nursing professionals to enhance the standards of clinical practice, teaching and research, and in turn foster tomorrow’s healthcare elite for the community.
The School provides a series of professional degree and sub-degree programmes accredited by the Nursing Council of Hong Kong (NCHK). These include the Bachelor of Health Science (Honours) in Nursing and the Higher Diploma in Nursing programmes.
Graduates of the five-year Bachelor of Nursing programme become competent nurses eligible for registration as Registered Nurses (RN). The Higher Diploma in Nursing programme is a two-year pre-enrolment nursing training programme that equips students to become qualified nurses eligible to be registered as Enrolled Nurses (EN).
To address the shortage of EN (General) in the welfare sector, the Social Welfare Department has fully subsidised the 150 intakes of the Higher Diploma in Nursing programme from 2023/2024 to 2027/2028 (5 intakes).
The School is a lively teaching and research community comprising outstanding teaching and research staff who possess a wealth of clinical and teaching experience. Not only do we impart knowledge to our students but we also conduct a diverse range of healthcare research and actively promote industry development. Additionally, we also collaborate with local public and private hospitals, healthcare organisations, and community healthcare providers to provide students with valuable clinical practicum opportunities to enable them to apply the acquired knowledge in real-life settings and improve their clinical skills.
