Admission Requirements
Year 1 Entry
For Year 1 entry, applicants should meet one of the following requirements:
 
  1. HKDSE candidates from 2024/25 onwards, have obtained Level 3 for Chinese Language and English Language and Level 2 for Mathematics and have “Attained (A)” for Citizenship and Social Development plus one Elective/Applied Learning Subject at Level 2 (“332A+2”) in HKDSE; OR
  2. HKDSE candidates before 2024/2025, have obtained Level 3 for Chinese Language and English Language and Level 2 for Mathematics and Liberal Studies plus one Elective/Applied Learning Subject at Level 2 (“3322+2”) in HKDSE; OR
  3. Have passes in AS Use of English and AS Chinese Language and Culture plus one AL subject/two AS subjects in HKALE and Level 2 for Chinese Language and English Language plus passes in three other subjects in HKCEE; OR
  4. Have obtained the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma¤ with a minimum score of 24 and fulfilled the English language requirements:
    • English A: Language and Literature (Higher or Standard Level) – Grade 4; or
    • English A: Literature (Higher or Standard Level) – Grade 4; or
    • English B (Higher Level) – Grade 4; or
    • English B (Standard Level) – Grade 5; or
    • English Literature and Performance (Standard Level) – Grade 4; or
    • English Text and Performance (Standard Level) – Grade 4; OR
  5. Have met the 2nd cut-off line of the respective province for admission to mainland key universities in the National Joint College Entrance Examination (JEE) and the scores of English Language is over 100 (普通高等學校聯合招生考試(JEE,PRC)達到所屬省市報讀第二批重點高校分數線以上及英語科達100分或以上); OR
  6. Applicants possessed (i) a qualification of a recognised Health Worker Training Course approved by the Director of Social Welfare at QF Level 3, (ii) 2-year relevant work experience, (iii) have met the required English language competency level (an overall band of at least 5.5 in IELTS Academic Module (within 2 years after the test date) OR equivalent), and (iv) passed an admission interview; OR
  7. Applicants completed (i) Form 5 or above OR equivalent^, (ii) possessed at least 1 recognised "Relevant Working Experience" area at QF Level 3 in any TWO Clusters through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) mechanism in the Elderly Care Service Industry under the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework (HKQF), (iii) have met the required English language competency level (an overall band of at least 5.5 in IELTS Academic Module (within 2 years after the test date) OR equivalent), and (iv) passed an interview.
 
¤ For the purpose of health worker registration with the Social Welfare Department, holders of International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma must meet “The Minimum Admission Requirements for Combined Health Worker Training Courses” of the Social Welfare Department (《「保健員訓練課程」的最低入讀要求》, source: https://www.swd.gov.hk/tc/index/site_pubsvc/page_lr/sub_reghw/) in order to be considered and admitted to the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Applied Gerontology programme.

Senior Year Entry
For senior year entry, applicants should meet one of the following requirements:
 
  1. Have completed an Associate Degree Programme (AD) or Higher Diploma Programme (HD) of the relevant subject/discipline; OR
  2. Applicants possessed (i) a qualification of a recognised Health Worker Training Course approved by the Director of Social Welfare at QF Level 4, (ii) 2-year relevant work experience, (iii) have met the required English language competency level (an overall band of at least 5.5 in IELTS Academic Module (within 2 years after the test date) OR equivalent), and (iv) passed an admission interview; OR
  3. Applicants completed (i) Form 5 or above OR equivalent^, (ii) possessed at least 1 recognised "Relevant Working Experience" area at QF Level 4 in any TWO Clusters through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) mechanism in the Elderly Care Service Industry under the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework (HKQF), (iii) have met the required English language competency level (an overall band of at least 5.5 in IELTS Academic Module (within 2 years after the test date) OR equivalent), and (iv) passed an interview.
