Synopsis: Medicine has its own unique and highly specialised language. Medical terminology can appear to be a foreign language at first glance. However, focusing on the components of medical terms is frequently the key to understanding them. Understanding the meaning of a few components can aid in the interpretation of a large number of medical terms. The seminar is designed to make learning medical terminology as simple as possible.
Speaker’s Bio: Professor Tang Chiu Kay graduated from the University of Hong Kong with the degrees of MB, BS, and PhD. He worked as a general practitioner for about 25 years in Hong Kong and Singapore before becoming a teacher at the University of Hong Kong. Professor Tang also taught at Hong Kong Shue Yan University, University of Macau and the School of Continuing and Professional Studies of CUHK, HKU SPACE and Centennial College. Professor Tang was the Vice President (Academic) at Hong Kong Chu Hai College and retired in January, 2023.

摘要：讀音相同或相近的詞，在使用上很容易引起混淆。這一類詞，如果意義相近，更加會在使用上造成極大的麻煩，甚至引起誤解。坊間的同音詞典，都是以普通話讀音為依據，對於說粵語的人，幫助不大。本講座嘗試以粵語讀音為依據，收集一些常用的同音、近音易混詞，與在座各位一起探討。
講者簡介：鄧昭祺教授畢業於香港大學醫學院，獲內外全科醫學士學位，其後再進入香港大學文學院中文系進修，獲文學士、哲學碩士、哲學博士學位。此後一面在私家診所行醫，一面在香港樹仁大學、澳門大學、香港中文大學專業進修學院任教。1997 年開始為全職老師，先後受聘於香港大學中文系、香港大學專業進修學院、明德學院、香港珠海學院。今年年初退休時為香港珠海學院學術副校長。
