There are different placement tests for students and teachers to assess their English proficiency. Please consult your English teacher or staff from CAPLE for further assistance.Cambridge English Placement Test - 1 hourThe Cambridge Placement test is an online test of English ability. It covers all the key language-learning skills. Results are mapped to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) – the international standard for describing language ability.Score CEFR level
90 - 100 C2 (Mastery)
75 - 89 C1 (Effective proficiency)
60 - 74 B2 (Vantage)
40 - 59 B1 (Threshold)
20 - 39 A2 (Waystage)
10 - 19 A1 (Breakthrough)
0 - 9 Pre-A1You may try out the demo test here to get an idea what the test is like. It is not a free test. To take the test, you will need a token . Please consult CAPLE for further assistance.The Oxford Placement Test is a free placement test provided by the Oxford University. It covers all the key grammar knowledge. However, the test will not be accurate for students attempting more than once.0 - 35Your level of grammatical knowledge of English may be too low for you to benefit from the English courses TWC offers. You will need to improve your English before taking any English courses. Please contact CAPLE for advice.36 - 45If you are a member of TWC and feel that you need to improve your writing skills in English, please register for the Language Enhancement Course (Level II) at CAPLE. If you need to improve your oral skills, please register for an English consultation session.46 - 50Your English is very good! You might not benefit from attending our courses unless you feel you really need to improve your English. If you are a member of TWC, you might still want to consider registering for an English consultation session
