She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science, specializing in Chemistry, from the University of Toronto, Canada, and completed her internship at the Toronto Police - Forensic Identification Services. In addition to her role in teaching the Forensic Science programme, she successfully secured two Research Grants Council - Faculty Development Scheme (FDS) grants in three years, one of which was submitted prior to her PhD application.
