Biography
Ms. Wong Lai Yan is an Advanced Practice Nurse and a speciality Nurse in Gerontological Nursing previously in a hospital in Hong Kong.  She is currently a Senior Clinical Associate of the School of Nursing at Tung Wah College. 
 
Ms. Wong graduated from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2001. She started her nursing career at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital of Hospital Authority in Hong Kong and has over sixteen years of clinical experience in accident and emergency nursing, orthopaedic and traumatology nursing and medical and geriatric nursing in various Kowloon Central Cluster hospitals of the Hospital Authority after graduation. During this period, she was also appointed as an Honourable Clinical Mentor by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, The Open University of Hong Kong, and The University of Hong Kong; and was responsible for teaching and coaching nursing students from different institutions. Besides, she was also a preceptor for newly graduated nurses in hospitals and had experience in Train-the-Trainer Workshop to provide better patient services in the Hospital Authority.
 
Throughout the years, Ms. Wong was eager to pursue many different courses for her professional development such as Simulation Instructor course, Postgraduate Diploma in Healthcare (Infection Control), Certificate Course for Emergency Medicine for Nurses, Intravenous Access Management, Emergency Wound Management and Techniques of Skin Suturing, as well as Basic course in Orthopaedics and Traumatology for Nurses. In addition, she has also shown considerable interest in teaching and took up various teaching-related courses, such as Foundation Education Course for Nurse Educators and a Certificate Course in Clinical Teaching and Assessment to teach nursing students.
 
From 2019 onwards, Ms. Wong has been working on a new challenge to change her career pathway from clinical to teaching, with the hope of training a new generation to be competent and professional in providing nursing services to the society.
