GEA3311 Coping with Loss & Mortality: Death, Dying and Bereavement
Offering School The School of Arts and Humanities GE Area 1 QF Level 5 Course Objective This course equips students with interdisciplinary knowledge and reflective competencies to critically examine the human experience of loss and mortality. Drawing from psychology, social work, gerontology, ethics, and cultural studies, it discusses various coping strategies and reflective practices. Students will be encouraged to explore different values, cultural beliefs, and emotional responses to death, dying, and bereavement, fostering resilience, empathy, and ethical awareness. GED1426 Introduction to Aromatherapy
Offering School The School of Arts and Humanities GE Area 4 QF Level 4 Course Objective This course is jointly delivered with the International Federation of Aromatherapists (IFA), which is the first and foremost governing body for aromatherapy established in 1985. It is a practical, hands-on course, teaching students about touch and massage, enabling them to communicate care and understanding with the elderly and children, as well as to provide stress relief for individuals with prohibitive physical and mental conditions. The course also equips students with skills to safely apply essential oils.
Upon completing the course, students have the option to take an additional examination to earn the IFA Aromacare Carer’s Certificate. Since the course provides a pathway for recognition, enrolled students are required to register as the member of the IFA, with a student registration fee of approximately HK$400. This membership is valid for 12 months. Additionally, students are required to purchase necessary learning materials, such as textbook and sets of towels, for their learning, case studies and examination, which cost around HK$600 in total.More Information

GED3406 AI Literacy in the Modern World
Offering School The School of Arts and Humanities GE Area 4 QF Level 5 Course Objective Due to the rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, the popularity of AI in the academia, workplaces, and even in daily life has been growing rapidly. AI literacy becomes essential for students in their studies and careers. By referencing common AI literacy frameworks, the course aims to equip students with knowledge about AI in four dimensions, including: (1) basic AI concepts; (2) the application of AI in different contexts, (3) using AI, and analysing and evaluating AI-generated outputs, and (4) the societal impacts, privacy, and ethical and safety concerns related to AI. By being AI literate, students can interact with AI effectively to make informed decision and solve problems in a responsible and efficient manner. More Information
