Prof. GAO is the Dean of the School of Nursing and Secretary of the Clinical Nursing Party Branch at Huizhou Health Sciences Polytechnic in Guangdong Province. She is a delegate of the 12th Huizhou Municipal Congress of the Communist Party. She has received recognition for her work, including the titles of "Guangdong Province South Excellent Teacher," "Excellent Teacher of Huizhou City," "Excellent Communist Party Member of Huizhou City," "Good Person of Huizhou," and "Huizhou City March 8th Red Flag Bearer."

Currently, Prof. GAO holds influential positions in nursing education in China. She is the Vice Chairman of the Guangdong Provincial Nursing Professional Group Teaching Steering Committee, Vice Chairman of the Nursing Vocational Education Committee of the Guangdong Nursing Association, Vice President of the Midwifery Research Branch of the Provincial Nurses Association, a member of the Health Education and Health Promotion Committee of the Guangdong Nursing Association, a member of the Huizhou Expert Pool for Skills Talent Training Evaluation, Vice Chairman of the Chronic Disease Rehabilitation and Family Care Committee of the Huizhou Medical Association, Vice Chairman of the Midwifery Committee of the Huizhou Medical Association, and a standing member of the Huizhou Maternal Health Education Committee.
