Professor Teresa Tsien is an Adjunct Professor of the Department of Social Science, Hang Seng University of Hong Kong, Visiting Professor of Respati University of Indonesia, an Honorary Consultant of the Research Centre on Gerontology and Family Studies (Former Institute of Active Ageing) and Jockey Club Smart Ageing Hub of the Department of Bio-medical Engineering, Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HK PolyU). Teresa is a former Professor of Practice (Gerontology) of the Department of Applied Social Sciences and the Founding Director of the Institute of Active Ageing (renamed to Research Centre for Gerontology and Family Studies) of the HK PolyU. She has conducted research and published articles and papers on social work and ageing, active ageing, gerontechnology, age-friendly city and dementia caregiving.
Professor Tsien is appointed to various Hong Kong government boards to advise the government on elderly policy and services. She also serves as chairman, vice-chairman, member and advisor of 20 NGOs and professional bodies. Internationally, she is the Hong Kong representative and Executive Committee member of ACAP (Active Aging Consortium in Asia Pacific). She was awarded the Certificate of Commendation by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2017 in appreciation of her contributions to the ageing research, policy and education.
