The Head is the leading official in the Graduate Research Office (GRO), responsible for directing and setting the strategic direction. This role involves overseeing all aspects of Research Postgraduate (RPg) degrees and professional doctorates to ensure alignment with the College’s mission. It also includes coordinating with School Deans, Division of Postgraduate Studies (DPS), programme leaders from various disciplines, and administrative units to maintain consistent standards and procedures across all RPg degrees and professional doctorates. This position is crucial for establishing and maintaining the administrative systems necessary for the effective management of postgraduate education. The Head reports directly to the Vice President (Academic) and participates in the Academic Board (AB), Management Board (MB), and other related committees/boards. This role requires significant research achievements, extensive administrative experience, and a strategic vision to advance TWC’s postgraduate education.
- Develop and implement strategic plans and policies for the GRO and TWC’s postgraduate education;
- Create an environment that supports collaboration and inclusivity in postgraduate education.
- Coordinate with School’s DPS and academic staff to develop and enhance RPg degree and professional doctorate programmes and research training;
- Monitor and report on various aspects of RPg degrees and professional doctorates to the AB and MB;
- Coordinate with Schools on supervisor training and support;
- Managing day-to-day operations and addressing any issues that arise;
- Manage budgets, resources, and personnel effectively; and
- Represent the Office at the College’s committee/board meetings and external events.
- Doctoral degree with significant research experience;
- Administrative experience in higher education, preferably in postgraduate education;
- Strong leadership capabilities and strategic vision;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; and
- Knowledge of quality assurance in higher education.
