Short description
 
The programme provides students with a full scope of theoretical knowledge and experiential learning opportunities in gerontological areas. Graduates will have ample employment opportunities. For example, they can pursue a career in social services as a community project organiser, or a project officer; in academic and educational institutions as an ageing-related service research analyst; in business or finance sectors as a pre-retirement coordinator, or a fitness trainer in silver-hair market; or public services as an associate researcher, etc.  Also, they can pursue further study in postgraduate programmes such as Master of Nursing Science (Pre-registration) Programme, Master of Social Sciences (Gerontology), Master of Social Work, Master of Health Administration or Management, Master of Social Service Management, Master of Social Policy, Master of Psychological Medicine (Psychosis Studies), etc. in local or overseas universities or institutes.
 
Remarks: Year-1 entry students who successfully completed specified healthcare-related courses in the Programme within 24 months are eligible for application of Registered Health Worker through the Programme.

  • Applicants with previous HKDSE subject result of A040 ‘Liberal Studies’ will be used as the alternative of the core subject requirement of A045 ‘Citizenship and Social Development’.
  • Students with HKDSE English Language results at Level 3 are required to complete non-credit bearing English enhancement course(s) in the first year of study.

Tung Wah College will adjust the tuition fee of its programmes based on the Composite Consumer Price Index to be announced by the Government annually.
The above tuition fee is net of annual subsidy under the Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors (SSSDP).  In 2024/2025 academic year, the annual subsidy under the SSSDP is $45,810 for non-laboratory-based undergraduate programmes.  The annual subsidy amount may vary in each academic year subject to the announcement by the Education Bureau.  For details, please visit http://www.cspe.edu.hk/sssdp.
Only local students are eligible to be subsidised under SSSDP.
