Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Service
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Service is a research-support service, which helps full-time academic staff or final year students to obtain books or journal articles which are not available via TWC Library.Steps for Book Request1. Can’t find a book via Library Catalogue? Please login the TWC Search and check holdings via:TWC Search – Union Search2. Once the book is found available via TWC’s partners, please Click on the [ILL] button or select the volume.3. Check whether the pre-filled information is correct, check the declaration box and click [Submit].4. TWC Library will normally process the request within 2 working days. Depending on the availability of the book in partner library, it takes not more than 10 working days to receive most materials. Normally, the loan period of ILL item is 4 weeks and items are subject to recall.5. All items must be collected and returned in-person at the Library Counter.6. Overdue fine for the item: HK$2 per day per item7. No ILL item may be taken outside Hong Kong without prior permission from the Lending Library.8. Borrower shall be held responsible for any loss or damage of the ILL items and abide by the book replacement and/or penalty policies of the Lending Library.Steps for Journal Articles Request1. Is the article you need available via TWC Library? Please check via:
– TWC Search
– Google Scholar2. If not, fill in an ILL Request Form and submit to the Library via email to [email protected]. The form can be downloaded from Staff Portal. If you are final year student, you may check with your course instructor to seek his/her assistance to apply the ILL services.3. The article(s) in electronic or photocopy format will be delivered through email or internal mail. The availability of electronic copy or photocopy and expected time of delivery will be subject to the holding library’s inter-lending policies.CopyrightThe ILL service is provided in accordance with the Hong Kong Copyright Ordinance Cap. 528, which only allows photocopying of no more than one copy of one article from an issue of a journal. Article requests violating the copyright restrictions will not be completed by the Library. Requester is required to acknowledge and confirm compliance to the Copyright Statement on the ILL Request Form each time when a request is sent.
