Launch of New Library System

The Library is pleased to announce that Alma, the new Shared Integrated Library System, will be launched with effect from 6 July 2023. The Library has enhanced its borrowing service by introducing an increased loan quota, extended loan period, unlimited renewals, increased hold quota and full electronic notification.

To ensure a successful implementation, some library services will be suspended during the system migration period. Please find the important dates in below table:

Important dates	What will happen
12 June 2023 (Monday)	All items whose original return date is from 3 to 7 July, the return date will be extended to 12 July.
16 June 2023 (Friday)	Last day to request Inter-Library Loans (Books).
23 June 2023 (Friday)	Last day to request TWC Library materials or inter-campus delivery.
30 June 2023 (Friday)	Last day to save “My Favorites” records (Saved Records, Saved Searches History & Search History) from the existing library system. Last day to pay all your fines and to check the details of your fines accrued under the existing library system. Otherwise, your total outstanding amount will be transferred to the new system, but details of fines may not be available. Last day to pick up items requested by you under the current library system, after that you need to request the items again under the new library system.
3 July 2023 (Monday) to 5 July 2023 (Wednesday)	Borrowed items cannot be renewed during this period. Borrowing and returning can still be handled in person at library counters during library opening hours. Overdue fine payment service will be suspended.
6 July 2023 (Thursday)	New library system goes live.

* After the new library system goes live, the hyperlinks from the old system are no longer available and some library resources links may be affected. We will complete the relevant updates as soon as possible to minimize the impact. If you have bookmarked Library resource links, please update them after new library system goes live.
